OWNER MEGHAN LEE - VISIONARY OF THE YEAR FOR LLS

Dear Friends & Family, 

I passionately believe in the power of our beloved community to harness the momentum to radically change, and ultimately save lives. 

Each year, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society launches its “Visionaries of the Year” fundraising campaign; this year, and with great honor, I accepted the nomination, and will now build and lead a team of positive changemakers. Together, we enthusiastically accept the challenge and responsibility to bring forth a new energy to the spirit of 2023– an energy grounded in showing up for our community’s grievous battle: curing cancer. 

From April 6th–June 15th, 2023, our team’s goal is to raise $225,000, which will go directly to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in support of its longstanding goal: a world without blood cancers. 

Cancer is the negative thread holding us together, a bond built off of tears, painful phone calls, and missed memories. As the founder and owner of Lewes’ beloved farm-to-table restaurant, Heirloom, I feel as though it is my responsibility to inspire and rally my communities’ awareness. In the coming weeks, the Heirloom squad and my team of empowered fundraisers will champion 10 weeks of fundraising in the form of 10 Stories. 10 Stories of the dynamic lives that have been entangled in cancer’s greedy grasp, and the power that comes from harnessing our community connection. 

Being nominated as a “Visionary of the Year” is a gift. A gift for myself to embolden our community to rise up for a cure for cancer. Over the last two years, cancer has impacted the lives of my close family and friends.  I have been the cheerleader, the shoulder to cry on, and the fundraiser; I am now inspired to lead my team of changemakers to make a lasting impact through our fundraising efforts. 

Over the next few weeks, make sure to follow Heirloom on all social media platforms (www.heirloomdelaware.com) for the launch of our 10 Weeks/10 Stories campaign. It is our hope that the connection found in storytelling will spark the seed of donation in our community and beyond. Today, your donation could be that very seed that prevents someone from losing a child, sibling, parent, or loved one.
